Appointments

Non-urgent advice: Please Note

We have appointments to book online for face to face or telephone consultations. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU STATE WHICH YOU PREFER WHEN BOOKING THE APPOINTMENT. If not stated, we will assume you want a face to face appointment.

We cannot guarantee that we will see/call you at your appointment time, but we will try to call you as close to the appointment time as possible.

Appointments: 01924 334400, option 1 (8:30am to 6pm).

The Practice operates a full appointments system. You can make an appointment by calling at the reception desk, by telephoning the above number at the times stated or online, using our new SystmOnline link on the homepage. Please be aware when phoning at busy peak times such as Monday mornings – if you are not wanting to book an emergency appointment for that day, please call later.

As all areas for patient consultations are on the ground floor of the building – there is suitable access for the disabled. Preferences may be expressed by patients at the time of contact with the Practice and, where feasible, preferences will be accommodated.

Patients who consult, who have not done so for the previous three years, will be asked by the consulting professional regarding lifestyle issues such as smoking habits and alcohol intake. Relevant assistance will be offered if appropriate. Services not offered by the Practice personally can be accessed through contracts arranged via Wakefield Clinical Commissioning Group, who commission services for the area.

Resources are limited therefore the Partnership expects patients to behave responsibly when requesting an appointment. There are always appointments available on the day for a problem requiring urgent assessment.

There are always appointments available for problems which are less urgent but which require assessment either that week or sometime during the following week. If a specific doctor is preferred then it may be necessary to wait and, similarly, if a specific time is required.

If there is an urgent problem but the patient is at work please convey this to the receptionist, as they have a degree of discretion to use a later appointment within certain criteria. Routine appointments are available from 8.10am to 11am and from 2pm to 5.50pm. Actual surgery times will vary between doctors.

Extended Hours

Extra same-day and routine appointments are available locally with GP Care Wakefield. You can see a GP, nurse, or other healthcare professional. To book a routine appointment with GP Care Wakefield, please contact your Practice reception team.

Sunday: 9am – 1pm
Bank Holidays: 9am – 3pm

Cancellations

If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else. This can be done over the telephone or online, using the SystmOnline link on the homepage.

Please do not email the surgery with a cancellation as this may not be seen before your appointment.
